Justin,
Boy, that does sound like a tough experience. Question: How is your grandfather doing? Was there ever any treatment? Did it help?
Thanks for the honest input. Have you guys considered looking for another vein speciealist in the area for a second opinion/evaluation?

Let me start by saying I'm a nurse practitioner in the emergency room. I took my grandfather to see this doctor. This was the fourth appointment he's had at this facility - palmetto vein and surgery center. We went in because of a spontaneous rupture of a vein, keeping in mind this is already 3 previous assessments this doctor has performed- 1 of which no pain medicine was administered for laser ablation.. my grandfather underwent the whole procedure with no pain medicine or sedation. Doctor Miller's nurse did all of the assessment the ultrasound. He then made recommendations of to where they should do the procedure. Doctor Miller himself was not able to locate the veins in question via ultrasound and deffered back to his nurse. Additionally at no point did they consult his past medical record of the procedures they had done previously. The final straw is that we showed up for our 7am surgery to follow up on that assessment just to find out doctor Miller would be over an hour late starting the surgery. This resulted in me being late for work in causing a delay for all of my patients. He demonstrated poor technical ability on his ultrasound, Poor continuity of care even with his previous procedures, And a blatant disregard for professionalism/respect for his patient's family members. Very poor health care.

We completely agree. In fact, we will be writing an article on how to select a good varicose vein provider soon. Thanks for the comment.

Going to a reputable vein treatment center really matters. You need to get the treatment from people who are professional in this field.
